Election Recap: Forgiven, Forgiven, Forgiven

I have every smartass intention with regard to taking down the New Old Establishment when the season premiere launches Jan 20, but for now, when it comes to denigrating swaths of voters I don’t know, I’m taking a pass. Anything that happened, well, it happened. We have a new world, and it’s about to get weird.

The Dawn of a Day, Like Any Other Day

This is not a new era. Today is the same as it ever was, it’s just that we’re close enough to hear the trees falling. Let’s keep doing what we did to get this far, because we’re still #strongertogether.

The only “truth” we’ve witnessed is that we’re accustomed to being called “rapists”, “fat”, [spastic hand gesturing], etc. In our confidence that this wouldn’t stand, we got real. A little too real. And that terrified many, because they’re not used to it at all.

Progress is neither assured, nor over, and that would’ve been true regardless of outcome. More negative “campaigning” will only activate more white rage. More to the point, taking a stand against something is not the same as standing for something.

Keep Standing Strong

We need to keep being powerful.

We need to keep listening to each other.

We need to keep respecting each other.

We need to keep making ourselves heard.

That means all of us. Even “them.” Do your best. Leave rage out of the equation altogether. When in doubt, go to yoga, get a massage, turn on that aromatherapy diffuser, go to a Zen center and meditate, or watch animal videos.

But don’t stop believing in the dream.

As Within, So Without

The grace is in continuing to live in your so-called bubble. Continuing to believe that we all want the same things, and continuing to believe in a world where we can all thrive.

Jesus put it best when he said, “forgive them for they know not what they do.” That includes me. Hating others is like drinking poison and hoping they die. Picking up the charge of hate will only ensure that hate magnifies.

Rejoice In It

Art and comedy are about to get really weird. Huzzah!

I write entertaining stories that sneak up on you. FLORIDA GIRLS, about a troupe of swimsuit models on a war bond tour who take on the Tampa mafia, is out now.
